Must be close to Halloween!

Holly would like you to meet
Seamus

He asked for a cigar but Holly told
him this was a non-smoking
establishment

He looks really cool with a candle
inside making his face glow!

Happy Halloween!!

Sculpting Wilfred

I would like you to meet
Wilfred

Holly spent most of the time she was recovering
from the flu working on him.

He is the first sculpt she has done
since we got our
**
Here he is all done and ready to be baked!

At this point, she has done the painting,
hair and his wire armature.
We LOVE him.....
She says it is like she gave birth to him.

He has a wire armature covered in batting
and then a stretchy fabric covering sewn on.
She made his custom costume by hand.
She also sculpted the blue bird and
the eggs in the nest on his hat.

Wilfred is an elf....
He is a forest guardian.
I am SO proud of Holly!!
She now says she sleeps with all the
faeries and elves dancing in her
head, begging her to sculpt them, heehe!

This is my latest sculpt.
I don't have as much spare time as Holly.
I will show her again when she is finished.
She did tell me her name was
~Elspeth~

Bakery Dreams

Don't you just love
Family Circus
by Bill Keane
**
This is one that hit home with me.
~Bakery Joy~
How can you stand in a bakery and not
feel warm and cozy.
*
Choosing a treat.... looking at
everything displayed. It can be a
very hard decision!!
*
I feel so sorry for the children who have
never had this kind of experience.
The bakery counter in the supermarket
is just NOT the same as going in
a little local bakery.
*
A lot of the espresso shops have a goodies
display. It is a little bit more like a bakery.
*
Holly & I
Have a dream
**
She does want to continue her art studies after
graduation with the hope of becoming a
Cinemagraphic Sculptor.
She wants to help create the
creatures and costumes
they use in making movies
like they do at Weta Workshop.
But...in addition
***
We both love to bake.
*
One day....
We want to own an
Artsy Bakery-Espresso cafe
***
We want it to be a place where just
walking in the door makes you feel good.
You can check your troubles outside
and leave the rest of the world behind.
***
Besides having wonderful homemade treats,
it would be filled with a magical assortment
of artist's work displayed and
available for sale.
***
We want it to have an old world,
Tolkien inspired, Bag-end /Shire
Middle Earth atmosphere
**
It will seem like there are actually elves
baking in the kitchen.
***
As you finish brushing the last bit of crumbs
from your lap, you will blink and
wonder if that was a faerie
you just saw fly off with
part of someones
cinnamon
roll.
***
At this point....Holly is a sophomore
in high school.
We have several more years to collect
and perfect our recipes.
I have worked as a barrista in the past,
so I can whip up marvelous mochas.
**
We actually hope to travel for a year after
she graduates. We want to visit
England and Scotland
For some reason it feels like home in my
heart, and I have never even
been there before!
**
We also want to travel around the U.S.A.
in an RV,visiting lots of festivals
and taking art workshops.
We love to meet folks and share stories.
**
Right now we are just trying to figure
out how we will finance it all.
My wise Granny Ruth always said...
"The money will come"
And you know what.....
She was always right about that!

Self~Portraits

I L*O*V*E this painting!
**
It is Holly's self~portrait.
She did it this summer (2009).
She wanted to do something to put
on business cards to give out at
The cards are so cute!!
Can you tell I am a proud Mama?
No one ever took an interest in me as a child,
encouraged my interests or helped me
advance in anything.
I believe you should cheer your kids on
and help them discover all
they can be!
This is a self~portrait I did years ago.
I need to do a new one.
This one does represent me still....
Gotta have my cuppa tea!
(has to do with living in a cold climate)

This is a quick pencil sketch I
did of Holly a couple of years ago.
She is growing her hair out now, but it used
to be styled in a cute pixie cut.
(I liked it better that way, but don't tell Holly!)
***
Have you done a self~portrait??
WE WANNA SEE!!

Do I feel like painting or sculpting?

To paint....or sculpt??

I LOVE to paint.

I don't very often and I

miss it.

This is "Merlaina"

She is a guardian faerie

***

Click on photos to make them bigger

This is "Valeda"

I see her in my minds eye a lot.

I think she is wanting me to sculpt her...

Problem is...

I am not much of a sculptor.

I am just a beginner.

I don't feel like I could truly create her

as she should be.

I guess it just takes practice....

I do love the whole process of sculpting.

Especially since taking

workshop.

This is "Aggie's Dragon"
I need to learn to give my

paintings more depth...this one

looks too flat!!

I love to paint profiles

For a while, everyone got

painted with their cuppa tea.

Even the kitties.

I love to paint cats!

This is an early one.

Did some silly cards..

Skiing anyone??

Jesse and his beloved Felix
We lost Fee to fip disease at only 1 year old.
He was a little scamp!

Then I went thru a moon phase..
(Pun intended, hehee!)

Whimsical

Yeah, I am a conservationist....
A tree hugger and proud of it!

Doodle whale
**
I guess I will go make a cuppa tea and
see what supplies jump out
at me.....

Sisters Harvest Faire 2009

Holly and I stopped in at the
Sisters Harvest Faire
on Sunday. Can you see the
amazing hand felted bags behind us?
I want that pink one...or the red one....
******
(Click on pictures to make them bigger!)

We met Debra Mae Fisher of
She is a local artist who makes leather masks.
They are all beautiful and seem
comfy to wear.
Holly found a design she likes
and may order one for the
Winter Celebration Ball.

They had live music as usual.

Holly is taking a ceramics class right now.
She liked looking at the pottery.

More pottery we liked!

We met Zeus of
ZEE~GLASS
(no website, darn!!)
He does very cool blown glass pendants.
Holly picked out one with a mushroom suspended
in it for Christmas...I will hide it away!

I found some more of my
FAVORITE body/hand lotion.
It is ...
Kat's Creek goat milk lotion
(clean breeze scent)
I love this stuff and bought a bottle at a
previous fair. It is all natural ingredients and
she makes it herself.
The scent is amazing and lasts a long time.
You can find it and her other products here at:
http://www.katscreek.com/

I love bird houses.

Holly strolling!

More booths

A perfectly crisp, fall day in
Central Oregon!

Holly checking out the handmade
Santa's.
I guess the Christmas boutiques will
be next!

Holly sculpts!

I want to introduce you to some characters I know.
All made by a girl who loves to play with clay!

This is Gandolf
He is a fired ceramic sculpt Holly made
last year in beginning art.

He is her first fired clay figure

I think she did a great job, but......
It all really started with a two year old
who loved her Play Doh!

She then discovered by age 4, that modeling
clay was even more fun.

By the time she was a tweener she was
fully into polymer clay.

This is Gnomington

Holly has a thing for mushrooms

Here is an early mermaid

She used shells and beads for accents

She made our yard more expressive!
Treebeard has been watching
over our house for sometime now.

She discovered hand felting with
natural animal wools.

This little lass went to live with
Brian Froud....
Isn't she lucky!

I bet one of Brian's other faerie friends has
set her free of her jar by now!

This curvy gal is one of my favorites

By the time she had made this gal,
Holly was becoming quite passionate about
her sculpting.

It was about this time that she discovered
The art of the Froud's
and her outlook has never been the same!

This fellow is Tristan
He is a faun she sculpted to ride on the back of
our wagon for Faerieworlds.
I never bought the wagon so he didn't get
to go.

This is Merrywillow
She is a top favorite of mine.
This was one of her last sculpts before
Faerieworlds 2009

Holly likes to make sure all
of the details are
just right!

I want a hat like Merrywillow's!
Then we took Wendy's class
It was Holly's big
Ah~Ha
day!

I had taught her all I knew about
painting, but I had never
been a sculptor.
She had needed someone to teach
her the way a face comes
together.

She made me
Gwynelyn
for my recent birthday.

We ordered Wendy's
two workshop DVDs so we can
continue to progress.
We just got them this week and need
to make a Michaels run for
supplies.
We have watched them thru and have already
learned a lot more!
Holly's high school is set up in Academies
You choose your career path
and they put you in the proper spot.
Yep,
Holly is in the Art Academy!
She is a sophomore as of 2009
Here she is in her ceramics class.

Natural clay is A LOT more messy than
good old Fimo or Sculpy.

I will post more photos of
this baby dragon when he is done.

This is a bust of Dobby from
Harry Potter

He is made out of polymer clay

It took her a while to get him
just how she wanted him to be.

This is what she wants to do for a living.
To work somewhere like the
Weta Workshop
Making creatures and mask pieces for
the movie industry.
How fun would that be??
